Basic History and advances with the Email


Email, Electronic mail, is the way to exchange messages across the Internet or other networks. It started off as Instant Messenger, where both the sender and receiver had to be online at the same time to receive the messages. With the advances in the technology emails are now able to send, receive, forward, deliver and store messages but no longer need to be online at the same time for this to happen as they only connect for a brief amount of time.



Components of a Normal Email

The email is made up of two key parts; the message header and the message body (content). The Message header contains the information of the email address of the first sender and one or more recipient addresses; these are known as controlled information. A Subject header field can also be added. ( See the labelled diagram below for the two key points.)
